Volunteer Opportunities

Your skills matter
more than your time.

GCC volunteers do not hand out flyers. They mentor young entrepreneurs, prepare CVs, facilitate workshops and help build the infrastructure that carries this work forward. Bring what you are good at.

Why Volunteer with GCC

Real transformation happens when passionate people step forward to share their time, their skills and their expertise. Not for a day. For as long as it takes to make a difference.

Make a tangible impact
Help transform education and empower underserved communities in a way that is visible, traceable and real. Your contribution is not absorbed into an organisation. It lands on a person.
Use your skills for something greater
Whatever you do professionally - finance, marketing, technology, law, education, construction - there is a role for it here. GCC needs expertise, not just hours.
Be part of something that lasts
You are not contributing to an event. You are contributing to an ecosystem built to replicate across the country. The young person you mentor this year may be a mentor themselves in five years.
Advocate for change
Raise awareness, fundraise and build partnerships that support transformative education and youth development. Your network is one of the most valuable things you can bring.
Gain real experience
Develop new skills and insights while working on meaningful, complex problems. Volunteering with GCC is not passive. You will be challenged to bring your best.
Leave a legacy
Contribute to sustainable change through mentorship, outreach and infrastructure support. The kind of involvement where, years later, you will know exactly what your time built.
How You Can Contribute

Seven ways to bring
what you are good at.

01

Mentorship
and coaching

Guide and support young people, teachers and emerging professionals through structured mentorship. Share your experience, your discipline and the lessons it took you years to learn - so they do not have to learn them the hard way.

Individuals and professionals
  • One-on-one mentorship within the Roots to Resilience or Girls on Fire pathways
  • Career mentoring, CV preparation and interview readiness coaching
  • Enterprise mentoring for micro-business participants at the Legacy Skills Centre
  • Ongoing professional guidance for young people entering the workforce
02

Academic
tutoring

One of the most direct ways to change a child's trajectory is to sit with them and work through what they do not understand. GCC offers tutoring in any and all subjects for primary and high school learners within the schools we are already on the ground with. You do not need to be a qualified teacher. You need subject knowledge, patience and consistency.

Subject knowledge and consistency required
  • One-on-one tutoring in any subject - primary or high school level
  • Small group support sessions within our partner schools
  • Exam preparation and subject-specific coaching
  • Literacy and numeracy support for learners who have fallen behind
03

Skills-based
volunteering

Your professional expertise is exactly what GCC needs. Whether you work in finance, technology, marketing, legal, HR or project management - there is a role for it here that goes far beyond handing out flyers.

Professionals and corporate teams
  • Finance and compliance advisory support for the Foundation
  • Marketing, content creation and communications support
  • Technology, IT infrastructure and digital skills facilitation
  • HR and organisational development consulting
  • Project management support for programme delivery and centre development
04

Workshop
facilitation

Are you an expert in leadership, teaching strategies, youth development, entrepreneurship or a professional field? Lead a session at one of our teacher training days, student mentorship sessions or community workshops.

Experts and experienced practitioners
  • Guest facilitation at teacher training sessions - primary, high school, ECD or behaviour
  • Specialist sessions on career readiness, digital skills or financial literacy for young people
  • Leadership workshops within the mentorship pathway camps
  • Business and enterprise workshops at Legacy Skills Centre sessions
05

Event support
and logistics

GCC's camps, training days and the Annual Legacy Gala require hands on the ground - people who are organised, reliable and energised by making things run well. If that is you, we want you on the team.

All welcome - organised and energetic
  • Camp logistics, setup and support for Roots to Resilience and Girls on Fire
  • Annual Legacy Gala planning, guest engagement and event management
  • Teacher training day coordination and logistics
  • Behind-the-scenes programme preparation and materials management
06

Facilities and
infrastructure support

The Legacy Skills Centre needs people who can contribute with their hands as well as their heads. If you have construction, electrical, landscaping or facilities management skills - or access to equipment and materials - there is meaningful work here.

Trades and construction skills welcome
  • Light construction, setup and activation support at Skills Centre sites
  • Garden development and community garden programme support
  • IT and connectivity setup for the digital lab
  • General facilities maintenance and improvement
07

Become
an advocate

Not everyone can give time on the ground - but everyone has a network. Help amplify GCC's mission by sharing our work, connecting us with organisations that share our vision, or fundraising within your community or workplace.

Anyone with a voice and a network
  • Share GCC's work across your social media and professional networks
  • Introduce us to organisations, corporates or foundations that may want to partner
  • Run a workplace fundraiser or giving campaign for GCC
  • Represent GCC at community and professional events
Corporate Employee Volunteering

Bring your team.
Give them something worth doing.

Employee volunteering with GCC is not a team-building day that disappears into a photo album. It is structured, supervised and aligned to programme delivery — so your team members walk away knowing what their time actually built.

All engagement is tailored to your organisation's size, capacity and CSI or ESG framework. We work with you to design a volunteering structure that is meaningful for your team and genuinely useful for the communities we serve.

From the GCC Partnership Proposal

"All engagement is structured, supervised and aligned with safeguarding protocols, ensuring appropriate boundaries while still enabling meaningful contribution. Partnership structures may be tailored to align with regional priorities, portfolio strategy and CSI or ESG frameworks."

Safeguarding and volunteer conduct

GCC works with young people and vulnerable communities. All volunteers undergo an orientation and briefing before any direct engagement. Interactions with minors are always supervised and structured within GCC's safeguarding protocols. We take this seriously — and we expect our volunteers to do the same.
