For those who want more than a once-off. Monthly giving, a gift in someone's honour, or a legacy in your will — this is where long-term commitment lives.
The Circle of Change is built on the understanding that sustained giving is more powerful than occasional generosity. Not because one gift does not matter - it does - but because the work GCC does is long. A young person enters the pathway at 16. The trajectory we are trying to shift takes years to hold. The people who make that possible are the ones who stay.
Choose your tier
The foundation of everything. A Roots commitment keeps one young person in the 12-month pathway every month of the year. It is the kind of giving that nobody sees - quiet, consistent, load-bearing.
At this level your giving reaches further. R500 a month sponsors one young person through the full 12-month pathway including their camp entry experience, or trains three teachers per quarter.
This is where growth becomes visible - young people completing the pathway, teachers equipped for the next year of classrooms.
Canopy giving shelters others. At this level you are supporting two young people through the full year including camp, or training six teachers per quarter. Your investment is structural - it creates the conditions under which others can grow.
At this level your investment is structural. R2,500 a month sponsors five young people through the full year including camp, or trains fifteen teachers per quarter. You are not supporting a pathway - you are sustaining the ecosystem that makes all pathways possible.
Legacy Circle members are recognised as the people who stayed long enough to see the change happen.
Every tier is open to once-off giving too. If you would rather give a larger amount once than commit monthly, it is just as welcome - the impact lands the same way. For once-off donations visit our Fund the Work page.
A birthday. An anniversary. A graduation. A memory. These are the moments worth marking with something real - not another thing that gets forgotten in a drawer.
When you make a donation in someone's honour, GCC will send them a handwritten card. Designed and branded, personally written, posted to their door. The card tells them that someone who loves them has invested in a young person's future on their behalf.
The donor receives the Section 18A tax receipt. The recipient receives the card.
Donations under R1,000 receive a beautifully designed digital card sent by email. Donations of R1,000 and above automatically receive a printed, GCC-branded card by courier - no extra cost. If you would like a physical card for any donation amount, simply add R150 to cover printing and courier when you contact us.
To arrange a gift in someone's honour we need a few details from you:
Email us at gift@thegccfoundation.org with the details above. We will send a digital card by email within two working days, or a printed card by courier within seven working days for donations of R1,000 and above. To add a physical card to any donation, include a note requesting one - an additional R150 covers printing and courier. Your Section 18A receipt will be sent to you directly.
Digital for all. Printed and couriered for R1,000+ or add R150.
Most people give to the causes they care about during their lifetime. A legacy gift extends that care beyond it. It costs nothing today. It asks only that you decide — while you can — what you want to still be true in twenty years.
In South Africa, where systemic change moves slowly and community need is generational, a legacy gift is not symbolic. It is structural. A young person mentored today becomes a parent who raises the next generation differently. That ripple does not stop. Your gift keeps it moving.
Leave a percentage of your estate after all other bequests and expenses have been settled. This scales naturally as your estate grows — and if circumstances change, the percentage remains fair without needing to update your will.
A direct gift of a specified amount to support GCC's work. Simple, clear and straightforward to include in a new or existing will. Any amount makes a difference — there is no minimum for a legacy gift.
Property, shares, artwork or other valuable assets can be donated to GCC. We can discuss how best to receive and deploy these — please contact us before including a specific asset in your will so we can confirm suitability.
Under South African law, bequests to registered Public Benefit Organisations are exempt from estate duty under Section 4(h) of the Estate Duty Act. A gift to GCC Foundation does not form part of the dutiable value of your estate — reducing the estate duty payable and preserving more for the loved ones you leave behind.
There is also no capital gains tax on assets donated to a PBO, whether during your lifetime or on death. For lifetime donations of R250 and above, Section 18A applies — tax deductible against your income in the year of donation.
We recommend speaking to your financial adviser or estate attorney to structure your gift in the most tax-efficient way for your specific circumstances.
A fixed amount, a percentage of your estate, a specific asset, or the residue after other bequests are settled. Any of these work. If you have minor children, dependants with special needs or significant financial obligations, ensure these are covered first — your loved ones come before your legacy giving.
Ask your attorney to include the following wording in your will. You can copy this exactly:
We recommend reviewing your will at least once a year or when significant life events occur — marriage, divorce, the birth of a child, a significant change in your estate. If you have left a fixed amount, an annual review ensures it remains appropriate. A percentage bequest adjusts naturally as your estate grows.
You are not obligated to. Your gift is yours to give quietly if you choose. But letting us know means we can plan ahead, ensure your wishes are honoured exactly, and welcome you personally into the Legacy Circle during your lifetime — so you can see the impact your future gift is already making possible.
Legacy giving is personal. There is no form to fill in, no obligation and no pressure. If you are considering including GCC Foundation in your will, or if you simply want to understand what it would mean, we would love to hear from you.
